For those not entirely up on the Star Blazers/Space Cruiser Yamato anime series, we present this documentary episode. It focuses not only on the TV episodes of Star Blazers, but incorporates the movies "New Voyage", "Be Forever", and "Final Yamato" which are only available in North America on subtitled DVD. All of the original series is available on DVD from Voyager Entertainment. The documentary is read and acted by the cast of the upcoming "Sea of Stars" audio drama, and features both classic music from throughout the series, and several audio cuts from the first two seasons of the English TV episodes. (An earlier version of this promo was released today with different music attached, this version amends the 'it's hopeless, let's get happy' feeling of the earlier effort. FMP apologizes for any inconvenience of having to get this twice)
Based on the classic anime "Space Cruiser Yamato" ("Star Blazers" in North America) Sea of Stars is set fifteen years after the conclusion of the series. After the conquest of Earth by the Comet Empire, humanity faces an even graver threat, when our Imperial Overlords send a massive fleet to Earth in order to sterilize the planet. It's up to a new generation of Star Force members and the recontructed battleship, Argo, to prevent the extermination of the human race and free us all from the iron heel of Comet Emperor Jahmorta. Sea of Stars will run six regular episodes (along with a special "Episode Zero" primer on the events of the original series) and willbe released Summer, 2009.
