Forward March, August, 2011

Forward Momentum Production's news and information podcast, "Forward March!" is our “highly irregular, irreverent and ir….um…we need another adjective” podcast that’s your source for everything FMP.

Enjoy your thirty or so minutes as Dev the Duct Tape Bandit drags you through news about FMP projects, a few tips and tricks that are surprisingly useful to the audio-dramatist, and then we’ll hang out around the water cooler for whatever is on Dev’s mind (since we kinda doubt there’s anything IN it…)

----

This time around...

In The News, MORE BGC casting! Sea of Stars wrap specials and....MORE new Yamato?

Tips and Tricks, continues our "The Complete Idiot's (namely me) Guide to Creating an Audio Drama". This time, we finally make it into basic editing. We'll also spend a few minutes discussing philosophy and dialog stitching.

No Feedback... nobody wuvs us. ;_;

Around the Water Cooler... Voltron. Is. Not. A. VERB!

This is it. There's nothing more to be said, there's nothing more to be done. It all comes down to the next few minutes, and a small gathering of allies. Fate will be tested, and legends will be born, or die in the cold ether of the universe.

This, is the final episode of Sea of Stars.

While our story is at an end, don't think this is the final voyage of the Argo. New stories begin, old tales finish. It is the way of things. Heroes found, are rarely allowed a quiet life.

As I write the final line, I am sad to see it end, but proud. So proud of the cast, of the work we've all done, and proud to have been a part of it. Thank you, one and all.

This is it, night has fallen.

The Comet Emperor begins his final assault on Earth, his goal not to re-conquer it, or to enslave her people... but to obliterate humanity from the cosmos. Driven mad by grief, Jahmorta cannot rest until those who took his son, his beloved Zordar, are expunged from the universe.

Earth's allies stand united, but they look upon Jahmorta's armada and see their doom upon them. Despite it all they cling to one, slim hope. After all, it's always darkest before...

Sea of Stars: Episode 10

There are things we would never do, or so we tell ourselves. Lines we'd never even approach, much less cross.

But life isn't fair, and people aren't made of granite. We all have our faults we all have our breaking points, and we all have our price.

It's easy to think that those around us are, as they seem. It's comfortable to assume they'll never change.

The wolf doesn't need sheep's clothing, if you think it's a loyal dog.

Sea of Stars Delayed...

Unfortunately, we're going to have to delay epsiode ten of Sea of Stars one week to allow Libsyn to free up some room in the feed. After that however, there should be no further delays. FMP is sorry for any inconvience.

Sea of Stars: Episode Nine

We all have them. Those frozen moments, those crystalline seconds of dread that shape who we are going forward.
For Derek Wildstar, that moment is the death of his wife, Nova. He'd give anything to see her once again, to hold her, to hear her voice...
Sometimes, there are... events. Things no once can explain. Events that run off track. One of them is about to happen, and Derek, and the rest of humanity, will never be the same again.

Forward Momentum is deeply grateful to Amy Howard Wilson, the original voice actress of Nova from Star Blazers, for volunteering to reprise the role for this special episode.

Sea of Stars: Episode Eight

The Planet Telezart, a dead world. A society that grew at the center of a hollow planet, and destroyed itself in war.
And yet...
This dead, lifeless wasteland was the home of Trelena, who saved the Earth and all of humanity from the power-mad Prince Zordar. The planet itself was consumed in an act of sacrifice, trying to stop Zordar's white comet. It's remains becoming a brilliant white star.
This dead world, this sacrificed corpse of a planet, this brilliant gem in the dark void... What mysteries does it still hold?
Finding out is going to be fascinating.

Sea of Stars: Episode Seven

Way back when I first sat down to write Sea of Stars about five years ago, it was supposed to run an even ten episodes.

As I got into it, however, I realized that there was almost no focus on the Comet Empire, aside from a few commander characters we see here and there. Also, it would probably damage the pacing too severely if I went back and added in scenes about the actual Imperial family, aside form their brief introduction in episodes five and six. Further, I didn't think I could keep the immediacy of the threat to earth going for that long. The Scourge fleet had to show up about when it did.

The result, was that ten episodes became two six-episode seasons.

I think it worked rather well. The story flows, the characters get more time to reveal complexity... and I can change the tone a bit between the two seasons without sacrificing the immediacy I fought so hard for.

For fans of Star Blazers/Yamato, we get to meet an old friend in Emperor Desslok, and Harlock FINALLY strolls aboard the Argo. We also get to meet the final member of the Imperial family, Prince Darcal (aside form his brief appearance back in the Invasion! special).

A new season, a new alliance... and a new menace.

The road gets bumpier.
